Wedding and Baptism

Erica and Carlos' Wedding Day

Dear all my favorite people!

It sounds like everyone had an awesome week last week and that makes me glad! Thank you everyone for all the updates on what's going on back home! I love you all!

This past week was really exciting for me and Elder Watt, so I'll give you all the details.  Sadly, two of our baptisms didn't happen because Joivani had to move to São Paulo and Joel had some struggles with the Word of Wisdom.  We talked to Joel, though, and we will likely hold a baptism for him this Saturday!  On Wednesday we had Zone Conference, and we got great training about the importance of the Book of Mormon from President and Sister Tanner. They are a POWERHOUSE couple!  They are fantastic, and they have taught me so much for the short time that I've been here. Sister Tanner doesn't speak much Portuguese, so she gave her training in English and one of the Assistants translated for her.  The Portuguese is still coming along for me.  I can understand about 80% of what people say to me, but I can speak pretty well.  On Thursday we weren't able to hold the soccer tournament because it has been pretty cold and rainy this past week, but we were able to get a few good lessons in.

Erica and Carlos' Baptism with Guilherme

Saturday and Sunday were pretty big for us.  Erica and Carlos got married in the chapel on Saturday by the Bishop of our ward, and the next day they were baptized by our Ward Mission Leader Guilherme.  Such an amazing weekend!  It was so great to be able to see two people whose lives have been changed by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I'm so grateful to have been able to be a part of it.  This work is amazing.  I can't wait until a year from now when Erica and Carlos will be sealed in the temple for time and eternity -- one of the greatest gifts this gospel has to offer.  I know that this church is true.  I know that this work that Nate and I are doing is God's work.  I know that this gospel changes lives and brings REAL happiness.  I know this  beacause I have seen it in my life and I have seen it in the lives of others through this work.

I love you all!

Until next week!

  1. Wedding looks fabulous! I am so pleased to read through this post. You just reminded me of my daughter’s wedding day. She tied the knot two months back at one of her favorite garden Seattle Wedding venues. It was a DIY ceremony so she did all the arrangements on her own.
